About Me
I've been a believer in Jesus Christ for over fifty years.
I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior in 1970, as a young eighth grader. After going forward at a Baptist Church service, good ol' Arch Baker, a deacon extraordinaire, led me in the "sinner's prayer", and Jesus came into my life. I was 14 years old at the time.
When I was a sophomore in high school, I went to a small prayer meeting with a girlfriend. It was there that I was introduced to the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I had no idea what had happened to me, but after that night my life was on fire for Jesus. Yes, I was one of those "Jesus freaks" back in the days of the Jesus Movement.
In 1974, at a Youth Camp at Forrest Home Christian Conference Center, I had a clear call from God to go into full time ministry.
My pastor at the Baptist church took a chance on me and in 1976, at the age of twenty, I became a part-time youth pastor, in charge of the High School Ministry at Fullerton First Baptist Church. I was a junior in college at the time.
I’m a musician – my Bachelor’s degree at CSUF was in Music.

In 1978, I married the love of my life. I've been married to Debby now for 47years, and have three sons and four grandchildren.
After college, I attended Talbot Theological Seminary and got my M.Div. in Bible Exposition.
After seminary, my wife and I started pursuing full-time ministry. We had always loved what God was doing at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. I used to run my Youth Group like a little Calvary Chapel - lots of worship music and lots of Bible Studies. Debby and I ended up becoming a part of Calvary Chapel Anaheim under the ministry of Mark Bove.
In 1986 Pastor Mark asked me to join his staff as one of his assistants. I served at that church for eight years.
In 1994, after much prayer and counsel, we decided to step out an plant a new Calvary Chapel in the city of Fullerton. We did this with the full support and blessing of our home church Calvary Anaheim.

On November 20, 1994, a small group of families began to meet at the Fullerton YMCA. I served for 25 years as the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel of Fullerton.

The bulk of the notes and messages archived on this website come from those 25 years at Calvary Chapel of Fullerton

Around 2014, I began to pray about church succession - who will I hand the church off to one day?
In 2020 I handed the church to one of my protégés, Caleb Beller, and in 2022 I stepped away from CC Fullerton to let Caleb and his team run things without the old man looking over their shoulder.
And yes ... I’ve written a book – you can find it on Amazon here.
I also have the privilege from time to time to teach classes at Calvary Chapel East Anaheim.
